Al-Attiyah takes President Anastasiades’ adviser on Sports, Mr. Phivos Zachariades, for the ride of his life
The 2018 Cyprus Rally is just around the corner, and the entire island is gearing up for an exciting event. Crews and teams are already settled at the Service Park in Larnaca after testing their cars yesterday in a small selection of stages not included in the rally itself.
The testing was hosted in the Tseri region in two specifically designed stages, with differing road surface so that the teams could simulate the rally conditions. Initial car setups and tyre choices were the order of the day as well as plans of attack just two days before the rally begins in earnest.
The Service Park is situated in Larnaca, and more specifically in Foinikoudes towards the Marina. The teams have set up with professionalism and precision in mind, as they prepare for two days of intense rally action to thousands of fans who will rush to the stages over the weekend. Fans that can visit the Service Park themselves to see the cars from up close!
Phivos Zachariades in the seat next to Nasser Al-Attiyah
The President’s adviser on Sports, Mr. Phivos Zachariades, had the chance to live a unique experience in the co-driver seat next to five-time Cyprus Rally winner Nasser Al-Attiyah. Mr. Zachariades is no stranger to rallying, himself being the brother of Victoras Zachariades, the very first winner of the Cyprus Rally back in 1970. Mr. Zachariades witnessed the new breed of rally cars up close, and upon his return had remarked on their incredible speed and technology as well as Al-Attiyah’s impeccable driving.
