Twelve spectacular stages for this year’s Cyprus Rally

Saturday will host the Super Special Stage in the heart of Nicosia

After a few years absence, the Special Stages of semi-mountainous Nicosia, are once again part of the itinerary of the Cyprus Rally. With stages like Asinou, Kapouras and Kourdali offering a technical challenge to crews and a good show for the spectators! This year’s course will have a total length of 684.10 kilometers, 200.07km of which will be the twelve Special Stages. Our rally will, once again, feature two distinct surfaces, with 87% being covered in dirt and 13% in asphalt.

As previously announced, our rally has been moved to September and specifically the weekend between the 27th and 29th. The base of operations will be in Nicosia, as well as the Service Park, Headquarters and Press Office but the Start and Finish Ceremonies will take place in Larnaca on the beachfront of Finikoudes. This year’s Cyprus Rally will be the seventh round of the 2019 European Rally Championship and the fourth round of the Middle-East Rally Championship, and still remains as the only rally to host two regional, FIA-sanctioned, championship rounds. It will also be the fifth round of the Cyprus Rally Championship!

Both recce and the qualifying stage will take place on Friday, the 27th of September, which will determine the starting place of the cars and crews. This will happen on a 3.60km stage near Yeri, just outside of Nicosia, after which the drivers will attend the Start Number Ceremony to determine their starting positions. The action will then move to Larnaca for the Start Ceremony at 19:00, right on the beachfront.

The action proper will begin on Saturday, 28th of September where the crews will have to face six special stages (two will be repeated), with a total length of 94.45km. The first stage will be hosted near the village of Politiko (14.60km), followed by the Stage at Lefkara (23.23km), which will also be the longest of the entire rally. The crews will then head to Analyontas (14.41km) before returning to the capital for the noon service. The first two morning stages will be repeated as the day is completed with the spectacular Super Special Stage (4.38km), with the cars driving on both halves of the sundered capital. All remaining crews will return to the Service Park at 18:30 for preparations ahead of the second day.

On Sunday the speed menu includes six special stages (three, which will be repeated), in the hills surrounding the Nicosia. Proceedings will start with the classic Stage of Kapouras 20.17km) followed by Kourdali (21.57km) and Asinou (11.07χλμ). After the noon service, at Nicosia, the three morning stages will be repeated, before the cars head to Larnaca and the Finikoudes beachfront for the Finish Ceremony at 18:00.

Following the publications of the course and the supplementary rally regulations which were approved by the FIA, it should be made clear that the presence of any participant and/or crew member in any part of the Special Stages mentioned here, in any way whatsoever, will be considered as reconnaissance and will be penalized immediately. Illegal reconnaissance will be penalised with a fine of €1000, payable at the secretariat before the event and will be reported to the stewards who may impose additional penalties.
