Safety above all

Ahead of the start of the action of the 2018 Cyprus Rally, members of the media were invited to the Media Center for a briefing regarding the safety protocols that must be followed out in the stages during the event. The briefing commenced with a greeting from the European Rally Championship Press Officer, Richard Rogers, for a general greeting before he presented the Head of the Department of Safety for the FIA, Mr. Jacques Berger who spoke at length to all those in attendance of the importance of safety out in the special stages of the rally, not only for their safety but also the safety of the crews. Using real-life examples, he highlighted what should be avoided during the two day event and how photographers and cameramen could keep themselves and the crews safe. Mr. Berger specifically stated that the members of the media are just as important to the rally as any other member, since the event is delivered to the rest of the world through their lenses. A promotional video for Media Safety was shown before Mr. Berger took questions.
