A first taste of the Cyprus Rally 2019

A first taste of the excitement to come in the Cyprus Rally 2019 was given to the public. This was done during the tests, which are customary before every big rallying event, where the teams test their cars and perform all necessary adjustments ahead of the fierce weekend competition. The tests were carried out in both the Tseri and Stavrovouni districts on three specially designed stages, not included in the rally, with the aim of preparing the car as best as possible. The morning began with crews trying to find the initial settings for the suspension, the options for the different tire choices and the strategy they can follow in the run up to the rally.

Cars and crews have already begun giving life and colour to the Service Park, across from the Nicosia Police Headquarters, setting up their facilities.

On Wednesday and Thursday, procedures will continue with the reconnaissance of the stages, and on Friday, September 27, both the free practice stage and the qualifying stage will be held. The crew times from the latter will determine the order in which the drivers will select the position they will start the rally in. This will be done on a 3.60km stage in the area of ​​Geri, just outside Nicosia. Afterwards, the event will be followed by the number selection process by the contestants and at 19:00 the festive start of the rally will take place on the coastal front of Larnaca.

This year's Cyprus Rally will be the seventh round of the European Championship and the fourth round of the Middle East Championship, remaining still as the only rally in the world to host two regional championships of the FIA. The rally will also host the fifth round of the Cyprus Rally Championship.

It should be noted that the 42 crews arrive from 20 countries in total, while the gold sponsors of the rally are the Undersecretary of Tourism, Psaltis, ENEOS lubricants and Cablenet.
