The Cyprus Rally 2022 is canceled

As a result of the decision by the Cyprus government to reject the proposal for sponsorship of the Cyprus Rally for the 2022-2025 , the Cyprus Rally, originally scheduled for the weekend of September 23-25, 2022, is canceled. The 2022 Cyprus Rally would have been the sixth and final round of this year's Middle East Rally Championship, and the fourth and fifth rounds of the World Rally Championship.
The Cyprus Rally is the first and longest-standing international sports event in Cyprus, having been held since 1970. The last time the event was canceled was during the years 1974 and 1975, due to the catastrophic consequences of the Turkish invasion.
The FIA has been informed about this .
The Cyprus Automobile Association, the only representative of the FIA throughout the entire territory of Cyprus and the organizer of the Cyprus Rally since 1970, hopes that the Cypriot government will reconsider its decision so that the international Cyprus Rally can continue into its second half-century of existence.
