Saturday to host the Super Special Stage of this year’s Cyprus Rally
17/09/2019
We are just days away from the start of the Cyprus Rally 2019, the seventh round of the European Rally Championship (ERC), fourth round of the Middle-East Rally Championship and the fifth round of the Cyprus championship. Our national rally will take place from the 27th to the 29th of September, and will be based in Nicosia, with the Start and Finish Ceremonies taking place on the beachfront of Foinikoudes in Larnaca. The 44 crews who are participating this year will tackle spectacular special stages with a total length of 684.10 kilometres. One of those, however, demands a special mention, and that’s none other than the Super Special Stage. A stage which will be hosted for the sixth year running in our rally, and is poised once again to gather thousands of spectators of the sport. A special stage which, once again, is hosted in the centre of Nicosia, connecting the divided capital.
This year, the Super Special Stage will take place on Saturday afternoon as the sixth stage of the course of the rally. Early in the afternoon, the specially designed Super Special Stage venue will be bursting with history and speed, offering spectators a spectacular show from the fastest drivers of Europe and the Middle East. Specifically, at 17:07 in the afternoon on Saturday, September 28th, crews will start from Omirou Avenue, with the finish being set at the District Courts of Nicosia, after the cars cross over the, so-called, Buffer Zone on the north section of Nicosia. Drivers from Europe and the Middle-East will have a unique opportunity of going head to head in the heart of the capital on the sixth stage of the rally. The roads around the stage will be prepared in the days leading up to the event, so that the 3.52 kilometres are ready to host the fast crews. The organizing committee of the Cyprus Rally ensured that the spectators will be able to enjoy the action and the cars safely. Specially designated viewing points have been placed alongside the stage, in order for the spectators to enjoy the show, safely.
The organizing committee has already reached out to the Police and the Nicosia Municipality, regarding which streets will be affected by the running of the Super Special Stage. There will be a timely warning regarding the configuration of the road network around the stage, in order to avoid any traffic problems.
The running of the Super Special Stage will be held under the same conditions and conduct of all special stages of the Cyprus Rally 2019.
